SAIC Awarded $37 Million Task Order by U.S. Space and Naval Warfare Systems Center Atlantic
Company to Support Veterans Affairs Benefits Systems
MCLEAN, Va., April 12, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Science Applications International Corporation (SAIC) (NYSE: SAI) today announced it was awarded a task order by the U.S. Space and Naval Warfare Systems Center (SSC) Atlantic to provide program management, technical, engineering, application development and operational support required to manage, enhance and develop new solution functionality for Veteran's Affairs (VA) benefit systems. The contract has a one-year base period of performance, one one-year option, and a total value of approximately $37 million if all options are exercised. The task order was awarded under the U.S. Army's Information Technology Enterprise Solutions 2 Services contract.
The VA Office of Information and Technology (OI&T), Product Development, provides information technology services to those responsible for disbursing veterans' benefits in a timely and compassionate manner. Under the contract, SAIC will support the strategic planning, design, development, deployment, and support of information management (IM) and information technology (IT) initiatives within the VA. SAIC will also help manage systems engineering and program development processes in accordance with industry best practices. The company, in conjunction with the VA, will facilitate the development of IM and IT strategic planning to support continued enhancements and development of VA benefit applications currently in production, such as the Chapter 33 LTS, as well as new systems.
