SAIC Awarded $2.5 Billion Task Order by the U.S. Department of State
Company to Serve as Lead Systems Integrator Supporting Bureau of Information Resource Management Information Technology (IT) Initiatives
MCLEAN, Va., Feb 15, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Science Applications International Corporation (SAIC) (NYSE: SAI) announced today that it was awarded the Vanguard 2, Task Order 2.2.1 by the U.S. Department of State to engineer, design, secure, operate and maintain its critical enterprise-wide IT network infrastructure in support of the Bureau of Information Resource Management (IRM). The single award task order has a one-year base period of performance, nine one-year options and a total value of $2.5 billion, if all options are exercised. The task order was awarded under the General Services Administration's Alliant government-wide acquisition contract.
The IRM Bureau provides IT infrastructure, systems and services in support of the Department's foreign policy missions. Under the task order SAIC will serve as the lead systems integrator and business partner for all Vanguard II program components and will assist in streamlining services, realizing economies of scale and providing improved service delivery. Among the key areas that SAIC will provide support are program management, operations of servers, network devices, anti-virus engineering, biometric authentication, encryption, monitoring tools, telephony, mobile computing platform, virtual environment, and enclave security design.
