SAIC Awarded $20 Million Task Order by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA)
Company to Provide Software Engineering and Technical Support to EPA's Office of Environmental Information (OEI)
MCLEAN, Va., Feb. 3, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Science Applications International Corporation (SAIC) [NYSE: SAI] announced today it was awarded a task order by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) to provide software engineering and technical support to the Office of Environmental Information (OEI). The task order has a four month base period of performance, four one-year options and a total value of $20 million if all options are exercised. Work will be performed primarily in McLean, Va. The Next Generation Geographic Information Systems Support (NGISS) task order was awarded under the EPA's ORD Software Engineering and Specialized Scientific Support (SES3) contract.
The OEI identifies and implements IT and management solutions that strengthen the agency's ability to ensure the quality of information, and the efficiency and reliability of technology, data collection, exchange efforts, and access services. Under the task order, SAIC will continue to provide support to the EPA in areas including outreach, data management, testing and debugging, and technical expertise. SAIC will also help develop GIS applications and enhance existing databases to accommodate new applications. In addition, the company will support the adoption of an agency-wide geospatial framework. Work under the task order will help integrate the EPA's legacy GIS applications, helping increase efficiency, and improve the performance and capabilities of applications.
