SAIC Awarded $14 Million Contract to Deliver Renewable Energy Generation Facility
Company to Engineer, Procure and Construct New Geothermal Plant in Churchill County, Nev., for Terra Gen Sierra Holdings, LLC
McLEAN, Va., Oct. 5 /PRNewswire/ -- Science Applications International Corporation (SAIC) (NYSE: SAI) announced today it was awarded a prime contract by Terra Gen Sierra Holdings, LLC, an affiliate of Terra-Gen Power, a renewable energy company focused on geothermal, wind and solar generation, to engineer, procure and construct a binary geothermal power plant in Churchill County, NV adjacent to the existing Dixie Valley geothermal facility. The contract is valued at more than $14 million, and the project is scheduled for completion by January of 2012. Work will be performed by SAIC's wholly owned, design-build subsidiary, The Benham Companies LLC.
Geothermal energy is a renewable source of electricity. It is a clean, environmentally friendly, sustainable method of electrical power generation. Under the contract, SAIC will provide design-build services to deliver a new 6.6 megawatt binary plant manufactured by Turbine Air Systems, a Houston, Texas, based company.
