Saguna Networks Announces the Release of the Saguna Open-API Enabling Mobile Operators to Deliver 3rd Party Content from the Edge of the Network
Saguna 4G Radio Access Cloud Platform Helps Monetize Mobile Networks and Delivers Significantly Enhanced User Experience
YOKNEAM, Israel, February 18, 2014 /PRNewswire/ --
Saguna Networks is an innovative provider of optimization and monetization solutions for LTE networks that operate from the 4G Radio Access Network (RAN). In Mobile World Congress (MWC), Saguna is announcing the release of its Open-API solution, which enables mobile operators to easily integrate 3rd party content systems with Saguna's RAN-based acceleration & optimization platform.
As mobile data consumption increases rapidly, mobile networks are suffering from congestion and a poor user experience. Increasing the bandwidth is not enough. The Saguna CODS™ cloud-RAN platform delivers bandwidth-intensive, rich content to mobile users from within the 4G Radio Access. By getting much closer to the users using off-the-shelf Intel Architecture servers and Intel® Data Plane Development Kit (Intel® DPDK) optimized packet processing, Saguna CODS is setting new standards for an 'always on' user experience, improving network economics and creating monetization opportunities.
Now, with the release of the Saguna Open-API, mobile operators can easily integrate existing 3rd party solutions such as CDNs, optimizers and caching systems, which operate from the Core. The Open API helps mobile operators protect existing investments, improve ROI and deliver more content from the edge of the network.
"The Open-API release marks an important milestone in Saguna's strategic path." said Ofer Talmor, VP Products. "Saguna has created a cloud-RAN platform. Now, with the intuitive Open-API, we optimize and simplify the delivery of content from 3rd party core-based systems like Content Delivery Networks (CDNs) directly from the 4G RAN."
"Adding computational power to the edge of the mobile network is an important step transforming expensive and complex mobile networks into an open, virtualized Software Defined Network (SDN) architectures running on standard servers" said Stephen Price, GM Communications Infrastructure Division, Intel Corporation. "With the Open-API, The Saguna CODS cloud-RAN helps accelerate the adoption of SDN by making it easy for additional 3rd party systems and applications to seamlessly run from the Radio Access."
The Saguna CODS platform will be presented in the Saguna booth, Hall 5, Booth 5E81, and Intel's booth, Hall 3 Booth 3D30. Visitors will be able to see a live demonstration of optimized network utilization yielding outstanding results in webpage load time, video retrieval and start time and more.
