Safeway's Northern California and Western Nevada Stores Recall Two Self-Service Chinese Food Deli Items Due to Possible E. coli Contamination
PLEASANTON, Calif., Nov. 27, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- In cooperation with the Taylor Farms voluntary recall of products containing celery that may be contaminated with E. coli 0157:H7, Safeway's Northern California and Western Nevada stores are voluntarily recalling two Signature Cafe items that contain celery supplied by Taylor Farms. These items are sold only in stores that have a self-service China Kitchen food bar, located in the deli area.
The following recalled products are sold by weight and have Sell Thru Dates of Nov.13.15 through Nov.27.15 (November 13, 2015 through November 27, 2015).

To date no illnesses have been reported in connection with these products.
Escherichia coli O157:H7 is a bacterium that causes a diarrheal illness often with bloody stools. Although most healthy adults can recover completely within a week, some people can develop a form of kidney failure called Hemolytic Uremic Syndrome (HUS). HUS is most likely to occur in young children and the elderly. The condition can lead to serious kidney damage and even death.
