Safety Bulletin Issued For Certain Revere-branded 198RT And 160RT PFD Snap-hooks
JACKSONVILLE, Fla., Aug. 9, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- A portion of personal flotation devices (PFDs) of the 2010 product year 198RT, lot 17192B098 (USCG Approval 160.055/153/0) and potentially 2010 product year 160RT, lot 168032C60 (USCG Approval 160.055/196/0) employ an elongated spring-loaded tab in the snap-hook which makes it difficult to close and properly don the vest.
Out of an abundance of caution we are notifying the public to provide guidance on how to remedy the situation. We take the quality of this legacy product seriously and customer safety is our top priority. We estimate this potential problem only affects up to 50-100 PFDs, and not every snap-hook used to secure each vest. Our recommendation is that members of the general public take the following steps if they own one of these PFDs:
1. Read the label on the vest to verify whether your vest is affected.
2. If it is affected, do not don the vest until the snap-hook is replaced.
3. Contact the retailer, dealer or distributor from which you purchased the vest from, or contact Survitec Group by phone (904-562-5900) or via email ([email protected]) and a replacement buckle will be sent to you at no charge.
4. The buckle is simple to install.
