COLUMBUS, Ohio, Oct. 19, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- $1.1 million… that's the record-setting amount raised through Safelite AutoGlass's sixth annual Charity Golf Classic, beating last year's $1 million number.
When you add it all up, that's $4.3 million raised in six years.
The event, sponsored by Safelite AutoGlass's strategic suppliers and key business partners from across the country, funds Safelite AutoGlass Foundation's annual impact grants.
The size and scope of impact grants have increased each year. After the first event, Safelite AutoGlass donated $100,000 split amongst four charitable organizations in the company's headquarters of Columbus, Ohio. Thanks to supportive sponsors, that amount increased to $500,000 divided amongst 20 charities last year.
"Thanks to our partners, we are also able introduce 10 regional grants of $20,000 each," said Safelite AutoGlass President & CEO Tom Feeney. "This money allows our local teams to broaden their support. It's the next evolution for our growing Foundation … further extending our culture of giving to local communities across the country."
Reaching this milestone actually started last year when three sponsors Sika, Asahi Glass and NSG/Pilkington stepped up in a big way… and increased their multi-year commitment of $50,000 to $100,000. Additional sponsors include Adrian Steel and Fuyao Glass Company.
"I can't thank our sponsors enough," Feeney added. "We are so honored that with their help, we're able to make a difference in the communities where we live and work."
Mid-Ohio Foodbank was among the charitable organizations helped recently by the Safelite AutoGlass Foundation. They launched a second social enterprise urban farm, Wheatland Farm, with last year's impact grant. The Furniture Bank was also a recipient opening a social enterprise thrift store to self-fund their cause. And Directions for Youth & Families used an impact grant to help purchase a passenger van to transport students to and from the Ohio Avenue Youth Center.
"We hope all of our suppliers who golfed with us enjoyed their day," Feeney said. "And, we hope they'll be back again next year."
