SAE Foundation Presents FEV-Sponsored Stefan Pischinger Young Industry Leadership Award
AUBURN HILLS, Mich., May 28, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- FEV, Inc., a leading developer of advanced powertrain and vehicle system technologies, announced today that the SAE Foundation's Stefan Pischinger Young Industry Leadership Award was presented to Adam Timmons, Ph.D., Chrysler Group LLC, and Kaustav Sinha, Ph.D., Dow Chemical Co. FEV, Inc. president and CEO Gary Rogers made the announcement. The award was presented at the SAE Foundation annual banquet, held on May 22, 2013 at the General Motors Technical Center in Warren, Michigan.
The annual Young Industry Leadership award, sponsored by FEV, Inc. is named for Prof. Stefan Pischinger. Prof. Pischinger is the president and CEO of the FEV Group, headquartered in Aachen, Germany. He is responsible for all of the activities within FEV's global complement of business units. He also serves in a parallel role as the director of the Institute for Internal Combustion Engines (VKA) at the Aachen University of Technology (RWTH), in Aachen, Germany. The award is presented annually at the SAE Foundation banquet to promote careers in the engineering community by recognizing young men and women, ages 35 and under, who have achieved major accomplishments and show significant potential for leadership growth.

Dr. Kaustav Sinha
Dr. Kaustav Sinha is a materials specialist at Dow Chemical Company and a major contributor to the advancement of specialty fluids and industry-leading research, which has generated collaborative programs with Government and premier research institutions in the U.S. and abroad.
Dr. Sinha is an expert in the development of smart nanoscale materials and his work has been acknowledged by the National Science Foundation.
The recipient of numerous awards, Dr. Sinha has been published in leading journals, patents in his name have been applied for, and he serves as a reviewer of several technical journals and sits on numerous industry technical and business committees.
Dr. Sinha received his BE in Instrumentation and Control from the University of Pune, and his MS and PhD in Metallurgy/Materials Science and Engineering from the University of Nevada, Reno. In 2012 he earned a professional education certificate in leadership from MIT.
Dr. Adam Timmons
Dr. Timmons, a native of Nova Scotia, has founded and run a successful company, served in the military, earned a BS CAS in Physics and Mechanical Engineering at Acadia University, has worked as a high school teacher, earned a PhD from Dalhousie University, where his thesis was accepted with zero revisions, and was awarded the President's Graduate Teaching Award.
His career in the automotive industry was inspired in high school by a tenth grade teacher; today, he has achieved distinction with several automakers, initially GM, and currently, Chrysler, where he leads the company's Electrified Powertrain battery cell qualification, selection, validation and integration programs.
Timmons also serves on several SAE committees and is a program manager for the United States Advanced Battery Consortium. He is also a U.S. delegate to the International Standards Organization. Timmons is currently pursuing an MBA and recently became an adjunct professor of Mechanical Engineering at McMaster University.
