Sacred Heart-Griffin Football Outfits All Players with Guardian Caps
SPRINGFIELD, Ill., July 24, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- After implementing the padded helmet covers for their interior linemen during the 2017 season, Sacred Heart-Griffin High School will outfit all football players with Guardian Caps for the 2018 season. The Guardian Cap is an external padded cover for football helmets that reduces the force of blows to the head and other extremities during football practice.
Coach Ken Leonard saw great results with the Guardian Caps in 2017: "We had all of our linemen in Caps last year and liked them so much that we decided to put everyone in them this year. I'd recommend every football program look into investing in Guardian Caps for their athletes. When I took a deeper dive into all the information, I saw no negatives from a safety or liability standpoint, just a good product for our guys."
In addition to the Cyclones, the popularity of Guardian Caps is spreading in Illinois. Elmhurst College, the first NCAA program to adopt the helmet covers back in 2012 under current Western Michigan coach Tim Lester, continues its use today under Coach Ron Planz. Other Illinois programs include North Central College, Eastern Illinois University, Hinsdale Central HS, Metea Valley HS, Evergreen Park HS, Mater Dei HS, Limestone Community HS, Taylorville HS, Streamwood HS, Grayslake Central HS, Charleston HS, Newman Central Catholic HS, among others.
"We're proud to work with such an established program like Sacred Heart-Griffin. Coach Leonard is a fantastic football coach who not only competes for a state title year in and year out, but also places utmost importance on developing young men. He also prioritizes player safety within his program, and we're honored to be a part of the equipment he sees as vital and beneficial for his players," said Tony Plagman, National Sales Manager for Guardian Caps.
