SABEW Best in Business Contest Records Record Number of Entries -- 897
PHOENIX, Feb. 10, 2011 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The Society of American Business Editors and Writers' Best in Business contest recorded 897 entries, the most in its history, it was announced today.
The 16th annual event, the largest creative competition in business journalism, featured new categories to recognize recent developments in the coverage of business news. They included divisions for international news and broadcast, as well as expanded categories for digital media.
The 897 entries broke SABEW's previous record of 842 in 2008. Last year's competition featured 796 entries.
"We took a bit of a risk in reshaping the Best in Business contest this year," said Beth Hunt, manager of editorial operations for American City Business Journals and chair of the Best in Business committee. "Change can be hard but we discovered, in no uncertain terms, that our members were
ready for a new contest that better fits the times we're living in."
The winners of the competition will be announced next month, with the awards ceremony to be held April 9 in Dallas at SABEW's annual conference.
SABEW, with 3,200 members, is the world's largest membership organization of business and economic journalists. The organization is dedicated to excellence in business journalism.
The BIB competition was developed in 1995 to honor the best of business journalism published, broadcast and posted in a calendar year.
