SaaS partnership set to foster the development of a democratized internet
SALT LAKE CITY, Jan. 28, 2019 /PRNewswire/ -- TryMyUI, Inc. has partnered with technology platform Blockstack to support an "App Mining" program aimed at improving the competitiveness of blockchain-based apps and services.
The partnership will lend TryMyUI's user experience tools to Blockstack's goal of returning data ownership on the web from the hands of the few to the hands of the many.
Blockstack, an open-source project and Public Benefit Corporation, facilitates the creation of decentralized apps by harnessing the distributed public database of blockchain technology. Their technical resources (and just as importantly, their App Mining program) enable app developers who believe users should own their own data.
"This partnership is revolutionary. Blockstack and TryMyUI are paving the way to an internet that reverses the increasing accumulation of control by a handful of key players, and returns it to the users," said Ritvij Gautam, CEO of TryMyUI.
Going forward, TryMyUI will run usability tests for Blockstack apps and assess elements of the user experience. The app developers, or "App Miners," will then be able to watch videos of real people using their product and talking about what they find frustrating, confusing—or appealing.
While TryMyUI will provide UX insight, the app developers on Blockstack's platform will also benefit from reviews by two other partners. Product Hunt will be gauging relative appeal and interest in the apps, and Democracy Earth will rate likability and traction.
"At TryMyUI, we help businesses build products that are intuitive and user-friendly," Gautam said. "Through this program, we can help the nascent world of blockchain web apps to reach those same standards and provide a compelling alternative to today's heavily-centralized constellation of web services."
While blockchains are still a relatively young technology that the mainstream is just beginning to become aware of, Blockstack's leaders are confident that it can change the future of the web. That means distributing power and control in a more equitable, and transparent, way.
"Decentralization is not a binary step," said Muneeb Ali, co-founder of Blockstack. "It is a journey that needs to be carefully planned and executed...It will take years to build a healthy ecosystem where no single party has too much control of the network, and where users are not dependent on any single entity for software development."
