S. Basheer Ahmed, Ph.D., Celebrates 18 Years as President of Pearce Consulting Services

BOWLING GREEN, Ky., Oct. 10, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- S. Basheer Ahmed, Ph.D., is a distinguished biographee of Marquis Who's Who. Serving as the president of Pearce Consulting Services, Dr. Ahmed draws upon more than five decades of industry experience in the areas of economics, systems engineering, mathematical programming and energy. He has maintained this role since the turn of the century, when the company was first established in the state of Maryland. Now headquartered in Bowling Green, Kentucky, Pearce Consulting Services is best known for providing support to the Missile Defense Agency in a variety of capacities. For the past 10 years, the company has provided assistance in the areas of environmental management and international programs. Among its most notable tasks was assessing the implications of deploying missile defense in Poland, providing financial and technical management support for the Israeli ARROW and David's Sling short-range missile defense programs, and providing support to the U.S. Department of State, Office of Science and Technology Cooperation, for maintaining and managing a large number of bilateral S&T cooperation agreements.
Outside of his celebrated career as a research company executive, Dr. Ahmed has gained a solid reputation as a dedicated educator. Between 1993 and 2003, he was recognized as a professor emeritus with Pace University, having first joined the university's Joseph I. Lubin School of Business as a professor of management sciences in 1982. Dr. Ahmed went on to serve as the director of the doctoral program for a total of 10 years as well.
Born in 1934 in Kurnool, India, Dr. Ahmed has always held a strong interest in the sciences. He initially considered becoming a medical doctor or physicist before ultimately choosing to focus on economics. Dr. Ahmed attended Osmania College, where he received a Bachelor of Arts in 1955. Four years after completing a Master of Arts through Osmania University in 1957, he relocated to the United States to pursue continued education. Wasting no time, Dr. Ahmed completed a Doctor of Philosophy through Texas A&M University in 1966 before accepting an assistant professorship with Tennessee Technological University that same year. Throughout the next decade, he enjoyed a variety of positions as an assistant professor with Ohio University, as a professor with Western Kentucky University and as a visiting fellow with Princeton University.
Early in his career, Dr. Ahmed worked as a consultant for Oak Ridge National Laboratory between 1969 and 1977, the Institute for Energy Analysis in 1975, and Honeywell International, Inc., in 1985. A fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science, he was previously recognized as president of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers' (IEEE) Systems, Man, and Cybernetics Society from 1980 to 1982.
In an effort to share his breadth of knowledge and experience, Dr. Ahmed has authored numerous publications, such as "Technology, International Stability, and Growth," "Nuclear Fuel and Energy Policy" and "Quantitative Methods for Business." He has been recognized for his industry contributions by being selected to receive a Millennium Medal in 2000, a Centennial Medal from the IEEE in 1983, and an Achievement Award from the Oak Ridge National Laboratory. Most recently, Dr. Ahmed was awarded the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award by Marquis Who's Who in 2017. Looking ahead, he hopes to become more involved in organizations that help people in need. He currently maintains involvement with Rotary Club of Princeton.
