DALLAS, Feb. 17, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Texas Instruments (TI) (NYSE: TXN) today announced that Robert E. Sanchez, president of Global Fleet Management Solutions for Ryder System, Inc., has been elected to TI's board of directors, effective March 15.

Mr. Sanchez, 45, has 18 years experience with Ryder, a transportation and supply chain management solutions company. Since joining the company in 1993, his career at Ryder has been one of ever increasing responsibilities. Early assignments included positions in finance, financial analysis and strategic planning. He was named vice president of asset management in 1999 and senior vice president of global transportation management in 2002. In 2003, he became senior vice president and chief information officer, where he led all technology-related functions at Ryder. Two years later, Mr. Sanchez was named executive vice president of operations of U.S. Fleet Management Solutions, where he was responsible for a fleet of more than 145,000 vehicles and more than 800 maintenance facilities. In 2007, he became executive vice president and chief financial officer. In 2010, Mr. Sanchez again transitioned to the operations side of the business, when he was named to his current position as president of Global Fleet Management Solutions, the company's largest business segment and a leading provider of truck leasing, rental and maintenance services with operations throughout the United States, Canada and the United Kingdom. He has served as a member of Ryder's executive leadership team since 2003. Prior to joining Ryder, Mr. Sanchez worked as an applications engineer at Florida Power and Light and a controls engineer at Pratt & Whitney Aircraft. He earned an MBA from The Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania with a concentration in finance and a bachelor of science degree in electrical engineering with a specialization in computer science from the University of Miami.
