Ryan Principal Jim Kranjc Appointed to Advisory Group for Illinois Department of Revenue

DALLAS, April 23, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Jim Kranjc, a Principal at Ryan, a leading global tax services firm, has been appointed to the Director's Advisory Group for the Illinois Department of Revenue, by Director of Revenue, Connie Beard.

This is Mr. Kranjc's second term serving the Director's Advisory Group for the Illinois Department of Revenue; he was also appointed to the same group by former Director, Brian Hamer, in 2003, where he has remained active over the past 12 years.

In this role, Mr. Kranjc will work with the Director of the Illinois Department of Revenue and other selected advisors to lend his tax expertise and offer guidance on legislative updates and pending draft regulations, as well as important tax policy issues in Illinois, to develop the best solutions going forward.

Mr. Kranjc specializes in providing telecommunications transaction tax consulting and advisory services for global communications corporations. Prior to joining Ryan, he was Director of Transaction Taxes for a national telecommunications company, held roles as a Senior Tax Specialist and a Senior Tax Analyst for Fortune 500 companies, and served as a Large Case Auditor for the Illinois Department of Revenue, as well as a Sales Tax Agent for the Ohio Department of Taxation. He is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, the Illinois Tax Institute, the Indiana Chamber of Commerce, the Institute for Professionals in Taxation, and the Tax Club of Cleveland. Mr. Kranjc is the former Chairman of the Chicagoland Chamber of Commerce, Tax Committee, and was a Board Member and Executive Committee Member of the Chicago Civic Federation. He lectures on telecommunications tax and transaction tax, and has appeared as a speaker for the Illinois Tax Institute, the Institute for Professionals in Taxation, TeleStrategies Telecom Tax Institute, and the United States Telecommunications Association. He holds a Master of Taxation degree from the University of Akron, a Bachelor of Business Administration degree in Accounting from Cleveland State University, and is a certified public accountant (CPA), licensed in Ohio.
