Ryan Abraham Joins EY from Senate Finance Committee
Veteran Senate Finance Committee Tax Counsel helped lead tax reform efforts over last decade
WASHINGTON, Sept. 12, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- Ernst & Young LLP (EY) today announced that Ryan Abraham has joined the legislative group of Washington Council Ernst & Young (WCEY) in Washington, DC, as a Principal. Abraham most recently served as the Senior Tax Counsel for the United States Senate Committee on Finance.
"Ryan's reputation as a consensus builder, working to achieve goals in a bipartisan manner, paired with his in-depth tax policy knowledge and political experience will be a tremendous asset to EY and our Washington Council clients," said Ray Beeman, co-leader of WCEY.
"Washington Council Ernst & Young's reputation as a leading tax policy firm, and the group's bipartisan team, were key factors in my decision to join WCEY," said Abraham. "I'm thrilled to have an opportunity to work with WCEY and clients on a wide variety of important tax policy issues."
Prior to joining WCEY, Abraham spent 14 years at the Senate Finance Committee serving under former Chairman Max Baucus (D-MT) and current Ranking Member Ron Wyden (D-OR). Most recently, Abraham was the lead policy advisor on corporate and pass-through business taxation, with a focus on international, energy and infrastructure tax.
"Ryan was a trusted and well-respected adviser on my Finance Committee tax team for almost 10 years working on a wide-range of tax issues from energy to corporate tax reform," said Max Baucus, former Chairman of the Senate Finance Committee and former Ambassador to China. "I trusted Ryan. His advice was sound. He was thorough in his research and critical in his analysis and his recommendations were balanced and thoughtful. His institutional knowledge of our tax laws will make him an invaluable member of Washington Council Ernst & Young."
Over the last decade, Abraham served as a key staffer on a variety of tax reform proposals that were developed by the Finance Committee culminating in the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act of 2017.
"In addition to profound tax policy experience, Ryan's detailed understanding of the political and legislative process complements our accomplished team and will help us achieve continued success for WCEY and our clients," said Nick Giordano, US Tax Policy Leader for EY.
Abraham, a native of Missoula, MT, holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Dartmouth College and a Juris Doctor from American University.
