WOODBRIDGE, Va., Aug. 10, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Ruth Barrett is recognized by Continental Who's Who with the 2016 Lifetime Achievement Award in the field of Writing. Ruth is a Published Author.
Ruth began working with the federal government in 1961 in a clerical position, where she rose to attain various positions throughout the course of her career. Willing to learn everything she could to increase her credentials and move upward, Ruth moved from clerical work to become a field investigator, and subsequently transferring to Washington, D.C., where she was involved in writing training manuals and supervisory work.
Upon retirement from working for the federal government, Ruth embarked on a career in writing. A lifelong fan of reading, she decided she wanted to begin writing her own stories. In this capacity, her areas of concentration include writing, editing and publishing. She is the author of "New Beginnings", a contemporary romance. Her latest book, "High Jinx in High Places", which was released in October, is primarily focused on mystery and intrigue.
A member of the National Association of Professional Women, Ruth was recognized as an NAPW VIP Woman of The Year. In her spare time, she enjoys reading, writing, and gardening. She is a member of Romance Writers of America and Virginia Romance Writers. She also serves on the Board of Directors of with her local Community Home-Owners Association.
In addition, Ruth studied Sociology at Georgia State University, and briefly attended Young Harris College. Looking into the future, she would like to continue writing, and has aspirations toward enrolling in online coursework towards completing a degree.
