Rutgers Business School's Supply Chain Management Program creates a new scholarship opportunity for Rutgers-bound students.
Newark Economic Development Scholarship Program will help area students interested in pursuing careers in supply chain management
NEWARK, N.J., Nov. 3, 2014 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Rutgers Business School's Department of Supply Chain Management and Marketing Sciences (RBS-SCMMS) announces the establishment of the Newark Economic Development Scholarship Program.
The program will provide scholarships to high school students from the greater Newark-area who have demonstrated strong leadership skills, have enrolled at Rutgers Business School-Newark and are interested in careers in supply chain management.
Each selected student will receive a scholarship as well as an internship from a sponsoring organization. The program will be launched during the 2014-2015 academic year by the Department of Supply Chain Management and Marketing Sciences.
The program aims to develop the next generation of supply chain business leaders through the strong support of the Newark community. The creation of the scholarship program is aligned with one of Rutgers University-Newark Chancellor Nancy Cantor's strategic priorities, to invest in anchor institution collaboration. A key element of the strategic priority involves working with the Newark "City of Learning" collaborative to increase the percentage of city residents who hold post-secondary academic credentials.
Burlington Stores, Inc. First Solar, Inc. and Caterpillar are the first companies to help sponsor the program. RBS-SCMMS is seeking other private sponsors to assist in rewarding talent from local Newark-area schools by supporting this scholarship program.
Rutgers Business School hopes that sponsors will make a recurring annual commitment to assist selected students in receiving a world class business education. The goal is to create a $1 million endowment, which will provide for full tuition for the students while they are enrolled at Rutgers Business School.
