Russia's SkyLink Selects Flash Networks' Harmony Web & Media Optimization to Improve Quality of Experience and Reduce Network Operational Expenses
HERZLIA, Israel, Jan. 19 /PRNewswire/ -- Flash Networks, a global provider of intelligent mobile Internet solutions, announced today that, following successful deployment of its Harmony Traffic Management solution last year, leading Russian CDMA operator SkyLink, has chosen to expand its deployment of Flash Networks' solutions with an upgraded version of Traffic Management and the addition of the Harmony Web & Optimization solution, both part of the Harmony Mobile Internet Services Gateway.
The Harmony Web & Media Optimization solution provides SkyLink with advanced data optimization capabilities, enabling faster and smoother network browsing and reduced network load. Flash Networks' intelligent Traffic Management solution was implemented last year to enable content-oriented pricing plans that encourage consumers to join the mobile broadband service and at the same time ensure fair bandwidth usage and protect the network from traffic congestion.
"Flash Networks' data optimization and traffic management capabilities have provided us with an advanced, unified, policy-based solution which enables us to increase subscriber satisfaction while making the most of our existing capacity," said A. Lykov, CIO at SkyLink. "After seeing the impressive results demonstrated in trials on our live network, we were enthusiastic to add Web & Media Optimization to our Harmony deployment, to enable increased adoption of mobile Internet services, while freeing up network capacity for growing mobile data traffic."
Placed at critical junctures in the network, Harmony's Web and Media Optimization solution inspects mobile Internet traffic and applies powerful data optimization techniques based on information about subscribers, tariff plans, devices, network bearers, and real-time network conditions. Harmony is capable of addressing approximately 90% of traffic, dramatically reducing data utilized by web, peer-to-peer, and digital media applications. The Harmony gateway provides the operator with a single, policy-based platform, enabling the management of growing data traffic and user quality of experience.
"We are delighted that SkyLink has decided to expand its partnership with Flash Networks and are pleased to have the opportunity to strengthen our foothold in this strategic market," said Mr. Liam Galin, President and CEO of Flash Networks. "We are proud to be able to demonstrate the full impact of Harmony by enabling SkyLink to provide its subscribers with an improved user experience, through content-based pricing plans and faster and smoother browsing, while at the same time ensuring SkyLink additional operational efficiency and optimal bandwidth utilization."
