Russell Davies Appointed Head of Planning, Ogilvy EMEA
Important Hire Furthers Commitment To Planning Discipline
LONDON, July 29 /PRNewswire/ -- Ogilvy & Mather today announced the appointment of Russell Davies as Head of Planning for Ogilvy & Mather for Europe, Africa and the Middle East. He will oversee Planning across the region and work on key accounts.
Davies is one of the most influential Planners in the world. He has worked at Nike as Global Consumer Planning Director in Oregon. Before that, he was at Wieden + Kennedy in Portland and London, working for clients such as Microsoft, Nike and Honda. He had a key role in Honda's "Power of Dreams" campaign and the celebrated "Cog" commercial.
He is a frequent speaker and writer. His blog, "As Disappointed as Your Are," http://russelldavies.typepad.com/ is one of the most read in the industry. He also writes a weekly column for Campaign magazine and for Wired UK.
Davies' hire follows the recruitment of other leading planners and strategists to Ogilvy over the past year including Ben Richards who joined the agency from Naked as Worldwide Head of Strategy & Integration, Rachel Harran, new Head of Planning for Ogilvy London who came from BBH London, Colin Drummond who joined as Head of Planning for Ogilvy & Mather West from Crispin Porter + Bogusky and Tim Maleeny who joined as Head of Planning in NY from Hal Riney. Davies will succeed John Shaw, who is to leave the agency in the Autumn to become Strategy and Planning Partner at Rapier.

Ogilvy also announced that Ronnie McBride will join the agency as Worldwide Head of Strategic Support. He will be based in London. Most recently, McBride served as Director of Research for Mintel. Before that he was Group Information Director for BBH. He started his career as a researcher for the London Business School and has held other prominent research roles. In this position, he will be responsible for marshalling Ogilvy's business intelligence and other syndicated research as well as the agency's own internal knowledge with the aim of making Ogilvy the world's best informed agency.
