Rural Rental Housing Preservation Conference to be Held in Portland for First Time
Enterprise to Host Conference Designed for Buyers and Sellers of Rural Housing
PORTLAND, Maine, May 7 /PRNewswire/ -- Enterprise Community Partners, Inc. will host Portland's first-ever day long conference for buyers and sellers of properties that are part of the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) Section 515 Rural Rental Housing (RRH) program. The New Life for Rural Housing: A Buyer-Seller Conference for the RRH Portfolio will be held from 8:30 am – 5 pm. on Tuesday, May 11, 2010 at the Holiday Inn by the Bay.
For nearly 50 years, the RRH program has supplied low-interest loans to affordable housing developers for properties supporting families with very low-, low- and moderate incomes, seniors and persons with disabilities living in communities of 20,000 people or less. Section 515 has helped to fund nearly half a million homes.
Due to a decrease in federal funding for the program, the rural development field is looking for re-investment in the aging housing stock. The buyer-seller conference will provide an informative venue for small and large affordable housing providers interested in either buying or selling multifamily buildings that fall within the program parameters.
Conference sponsors include: Federal Home Loan Bank of Boston Maine, Affordable Housing Coalition, Avesta, New Hampshire Community Loan Fund, Main Affordable Housing Coalition, Maine State Housing Authority and more.
