Rubbermaid Commercial Products' HYGEN Dance Troupe Mop-Up the Vegas Strip With Disruptive Product Demonstration
Rubbermaid Commercial Products Partners with Shenandoah University Dance Conservatory Students to Create Show-Stopping Video
WINCHESTER, Va., Dec. 7, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Rubbermaid Commercial Products (RCP), the leader in solution-based commercial products, announced today the release of a shareable dance video that showcases the revolutionary Rubbermaid HYGEN™ Clean Water System. Four Shenandoah University Dance Conservatory students formed the "Rubbermaid HYGEN Dance Troupe" and performed a creative interpretation of the use of RCP's new filter mopping system. The dance was first performed live at the ISSA/Interclean® tradeshow in Las Vegas in October, where the troupe "mopped-up" the Las Vegas strip with this disruptive product demonstration. This exciting performance is now available online.

The innovative twist on the new mopping system product demonstration began three months prior to ISSA, when RCP partnered with Shenandoah University Conservatory, which is based in Winchester, VA where RCP is headquartered. The concept envisioned that four high-caliber dance students choreograph a custom dance to a custom song called "the HYGEN Dance" (to the tune of the iconic Men without Hats 80's song, "Safety Dance"). This six-week class project culminated in dance performances three times daily at the tradeshow, and video development, as hundreds of attendees were drawn to the RCP booth to catch the action and see the 2011 ISSA Innovation award-winning product literally mop-up the dance floor.
"Rubbermaid Commercial Products is modernizing the cleaning industry with innovative solutions that enable our customers worldwide to do more with less while sustaining and conserving the environment," said Neil R. Eibeler, President of Rubbermaid Commercial Products. "What better way to showcase the innovative HYGEN Clean Water System than to demonstrate its fluid, melodic properties through this creative, entertaining video."
The Rubbermaid HYGEN Clean Water System is revolutionary in how it works, using a unique water filter integrated into the mop bucket to generate clean water, resulting in a cleaner mop and floor. The integrated water filter improves cost-in-use and sustainability by reducing water and chemical usage and increasing worker productivity, saving a typical facility about $6,000 a year in labor costs.
On December 13, RCP will present Shenandoah University with a generous scholarship to support their "Arts Conservatory Program," as a token of their appreciation to the University and the dance students. Through the RCP partnership with Shenandoah University, these students received course credit and had the opportunity to add this performance, as well as the Las Vegas experience, to their portfolios as they enter the professional world of entertainment.
"I'm delighted Rubbermaid Commercial Products offered this outstanding opportunity to our dance students," said Shenandoah University President Tracy Fitzsimmons. "The real world situation they are enjoying with this exciting, creative project expands Shenandoah's classrooms virtually through the online video. I am deeply appreciative to RCP for providing our students with this unique educational experience."
