MOSCOW, April 15, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- RT host Anissa Naouai and program Technology Update won in their respective categories, and documentary film "Albino Africa" was awarded silver at the 2015 New York Festivals.
Anissa Naouai is the winner for the Best News Anchor. Naouai is RT's senior political correspondent who has reported from more than 80 cities around the world before her nightly news magazine In the Now. "Albino Africa" received the Silver World Medal among Social Issues Documentaries. The film tells of the struggles of Tanzanian children affected by albinism at a rate of 8 times the global average, and the activist who has dedicated his life to campaigning against the discrimination of and attacks on albino Africans, who are often feared and cast out from their societies.
RT's "Technology Update" program, which focuses on science and innovation, took a Gold World Medal for Promotional Art Direction. Interview program "In A Word", which airs on RT Arabic, received the Bronze World Medal for Best Documentary/Information Program Promo.
