FREMONT, Calif., Jan. 4, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Royole today announces that it has been named another CES 2017 Innovation Awards Honoree in the Fitness, Sports and Biotech category for its Smart Cycling Backpack, and in the Wearable Technology category for its flexible smartphone prototype, "FlexPhone". Royole has received two CES 2017 Innovation Awards earlier for its new 3D virtual mobile theater device, "Moon". The Smart Cycling Backpack utilizes Royole's proprietary flexible sensor technology while the FlexPhone incorporates both the flexible display and flexible sensor technologies. Products entered in the prestigious program are judged by a preeminent panel of independent industrial designers, independent engineers, and members of the trade media to honor outstanding design and engineering in cutting edge consumer electronics products.
The Smart Cycling Backpack and Flexible Phone will be on display in Royole's CES booth (LVCC, South Hall 2, #26002) and also in CES Innovation Award special zone. Royole's company founder, Dr. Bill Liu, will discuss further in addition to introducing the company and the new Moon 3D virtual mobile theater at the Power Session press event Wednesday, January 4, 2017 at 12:00pm in the Mandalay Bay South Convention Center, Level 3, Palm A ballroom. In addition, Dr. Liu will introduce the company's Chief Creative Officer, global R&B music icon, 5-time Grammy Award nominee and multi-platinum recording artist, Akon, who will discuss his company involvement and special edition Moon unit.
Royole Smart Cycling Backpack
The Royole Smart Cycling Backpack is a functional, cycling backpack that features an LED display grid embedded in the back panel, and Royole's patented flexible sensors for display control, layered in the shoulder strap fabric to create a variety of lighted traffic signals to enhance riders' safety.
Rider illumination is critical and the more effective a cyclist is in communicating what they intend to do the more likely they will return home safely. The integrated sensors in the strap remove the need for external accessories to control the light patterns. This reduces the potential for breaking or additional component failure in the active, and often remote, day of a cyclist. In addition to rider safety, it's a fully functional sleek and streamlined backpack designed specifically for cyclists while allowing them to express their individuality through its aesthetics and variety of lighting patterns.
Royole FlexPhone
The FlexPhone is the first smartphone prototype that incorporates Royole's proprietary full color flexible display and flexible sensor technologies. When rigid, it functions as a regular phone but also can be rolled up conveniently onto your wrist as a phone or fitness monitor. When a call comes in it can either be used in place as a speakerphone, or removed and straightened into a traditional phone. At the end of the call, you may bend it back onto your wrist and continue with your run!
Royole's FlexPhone also functions as a fitness tracker where it can monitor many physical parameters including heart rate, steps taken, and distance traveled. At around 6mm thick and 100g in weight, it is light enough to go with you when you exercise or for a night on the town. Additionally, with both display and circuitry being flexible, the FlexPhone is able to handle a great deal more of life's unexpected drops and bumps with much less chance of breaking. The phone features 3G connectivity, is SIM card compatible, and runs off of an Android OS.
"We are thrilled to be recognized as a CES 2017 Innovation Awards Honoree for these two products," said Dr. Bill Liu, Founder and CEO of Royole. "They are both great examples of the kinds of products we will be able to mass produce at our $1.7B Shenzhen production campus that is scheduled for completion in Q3 of 2017, and it is very rewarding to be recognized by CTA for all of our teams' hard work."
The prestigious CES Innovation Awards are sponsored by the Consumer Technology Association (CTA™), the producer of CES 2017, the global gathering place for all who thrive on the business of consumer technologies, and have been recognizing achievements in product design and engineering since 1976.
Entries are evaluated on their engineering, aesthetic and design qualities, intended use/function and user value, how the design and innovation of the product directly compares to other products in the marketplace and unique/novel features present. Products chosen as CES Innovation Honorees reflect innovative design and engineering in some of the most cutting edge tech products and services coming to market.
CES 2017 Innovation Honoree products are featured on CES.tech/Innovation, which lists product categories, as well as each product name, manufacturer information, description, photo and URL.
