Royal Organic Products' COMPELL Natural Compost Pellets Featured at Rhizoterra Field Day in Eastern Washington
REARDAN, Wash., Sept. 15, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- At the Rhizoterra Field Day that was recently held at Rhizoterra's Research Farm near Reardan, WA, world renowned soil health scientist, Dr. Jill Clapperton, shared results of research trials regarding COMPELL natural compost pellets.
The field day was attended by key growers and farm managers, conservation district representatives, crop consultants, and representatives from local universities. The Rhizoterra Farm in Eastern Washington (at Reardan) has become an important location for research on sustainable agricultural based products, cover crop mixes, and new soil health technologies.
As part of the field day, Dr. Clapperton provided a tour of various crop test plots including: grain (wheat, barley), oilseeds (canola), and legumes, while discussing effective fertility programs for no-till and precision agriculture. After the test plot tour, the group discussed what they had seen while enjoying pizza made with flour from no-till sustainably grown wheat provided by Shepherd's Grain (http://www.shepherdsgrain.com/). The brick oven pizza, cooked at the farm, further demonstrated the importance of soil health in bringing nutrient rich food from the farm to the table.
According to Dr. Clapperton, who is the Principal Scientist of Rhizoterra, Inc., the COMPELL trials (http://youtu.be/iuDUaOGrj4g) showed substantial increased yields in wheat, and significantly increased the yield of open pollinated winter canola.
"This easy-to-use natural product has a particularly strong place in both large and small scale arid and semi-arid agriculture according to our research," stated Dr. Clapperton. "I use COMPELL as part of my standard cropping practice on all crops."
COMPELL, which is made by Royal Organic Products, is a fully functional pelletized compost, blended for performance and precision in an easy-to-apply concentrated form.
In particular, COMPELL concentrated natural compost pellets provide the following benefits:
- High density and low volume-easy to transport, store and apply;
- Specifically treats the seed zone and root zone;
- Increases microbiological activity and soil respiration;
- Provides a slow release of nutrients and retains nutrients longer in soils;
- Increases soil absorbency-soils better retain water, which improves water efficiency;
- Supplies organic matter, carbon, and improves soil structure.
Royal Organic Products' unique process compresses and condenses our compost into a high potency dry compost pellet (COMPELL), which retains the microbiology and other positive aspects of the material. Low volume, precision applications of COMPELL treat the seed and root zone with tremendous results.
