Royal Canin Brings The Nation's Largest Pedigreed Cat Show To Portland
Cat Fancier's Association International Cat Show Continues with New Name and New City
PORTLAND, Ore., Nov. 13, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Royal Canin, a leading global pet nutrition company specializing in breed-specific nutrition, has amplified its multiyear partnership with The Cat Fancier's Association (CFA), the world's leading registry of pedigreed cats, by becoming the title sponsor of the CFA International Cat Show. The event will take place November 18-19, 2017.
The CFA International Cat Show is the largest cat show in the nation, hosting more than 500 cats and up to 41 breeds from the U.S., Europe and Asia. And for the first time in the 30-year history of the event, the show will be coming to Portland, Oregon, and will be renamed "The CFA International Cat Show, presented by Royal Canin."
Royal Canin has spent nearly half a century developing diets that are highly palatable and provide complete and balanced nutrition for cats and dogs.
"We are thrilled to join forces with Royal Canin, an organization that is dedicated to celebrating cats and the unique needs of each breed, as the title sponsor for this year's show," said Mark Hannon, President of CFA. "Cats are sophisticated creatures, known for their majestic nature and we're excited to shine light on the best of the best this fall."
The event at the Portland Expo Center will showcase the top national, international and household cats as well as annual competitions and new, unique attractions including:
- Performances and meet-and-greets with local celebrity Moshow "The Cat Rapper"
- A "Kitty Korral" petting corral where families can get up-close-and-personal with rare breeds
- An agility ring where cats will maneuver through a timed obstacle course
- An education ring where various breeds will be showcased
- An exhibit hosted by the Feral Cat Coalition of Oregon and Audubon Society of Portland, the founders of Portland's Annual Catio Tour, about Catios – outdoor enclosures that offer safe exercise for cats
- Show hall tours
- Vending from more than 30 artisans, businesses and organizations offering cat-related products and toys, local wines, spirits, cat-inspired books and more
All of these events will be amplified by a community of cat lovers, as Oregon has been named a top state for cat ownership.
"At CFA, we get the opportunity to see every day a variety of magnificent cat breeds," said Pam Moser, Show Manager. "The CFA International Cat Show will be an incredible dedication to these diverse felines and we can't wait for cat lovers across the globe to see it!"
Jason Taylor, Royal Canin National PRO Sales Director, added: "The Cat Fanciers' Association is the pioneer and protector of cat breeds and aligns perfectly with our mission to nourish and celebrate pedigreed cats. We are proud to call CFA our partner and thrilled to launch the partnership at the nation's largest cat show in Portland."
Tickets for the show can be purchased at the door or online at TicketsWest, with a portion of the proceeds benefitting the locally based adoption guarantee cat shelter, Cat Adoption Team. Tickets for adults are $10 each, children under 5 are free and a family pack of tickets for up to 4 people are $25 each. For those who are not able to attend, the International Cat Show will stream via a live webcast.
