Roxio Dominates Retail in 2009

SANTA CLARA, Calif., Feb. 2 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Roxio®, a division of Sonic Solutions® (Nasdaq: SNIC), today announced its consumer software applications were number one in U.S. retail in 2009. According to NPD Group figures, which track retail sell-through in North America, Roxio applications gained market share over the previous year and once again lead the category in terms of units and revenue at 48% and 57% respectively*. Roxio's retail leadership was propelled by solid performances for new versions of its flagship digital media applications, Roxio Creator® and Toast®, the success of new product introductions such as Roxio Easy VHS to DVD, and its marketing collaboration with Microsoft during the launch of Windows 7.

In 2009, Roxio's revenue market share grew 11% year-over-year from 45.6% to 56.9%, a share three-times greater than its closest competitor. Roxio's products also extended unit volume share almost 9% year-over-year from 39% to 48.4%. Sonic's distribution network spans over 12,000 store fronts throughout North America including leading retail and e-tail outlets Best Buy, Wal-Mart, Sam's Club, Costco Wholesale, Amazon and Apple stores.
