Ross Perot May Be Wealthiest US Presidential Candidate, But Hillary's The One To Watch
NEW YORK, Aug. 28, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Ross Perot may have the billions, but the talk of Washington this summer is that former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton is gearing up for another run for the White House in 2016.
Wealth-X, the world's leading ultra high net worth (UHNW) intelligence provider, released today a list of America's 10 wealthiest presidential candidates. Perot emerged as the richest with a fortune of US$4.3 billion, 10 times more affluent than publishing tycoon Steve Forbes, the next person on the list, and about three times wealthier than all of the other individuals on the list combined.
Hillary Clinton, who ran for the Democratic nomination in 2008, has a net worth of US$100 million, putting her in the sixth spot along with her husband, former President Bill Clinton. Wealth-X has combined the net worth of the Clinton family to demonstrate the potential financial clout that would be behind Hillary's presidential campaign if she runs in the 2016 race.
"The intense scrutiny sparked by being the front-runner Democratic presidential nominee coupled with Hillary's indication that she is out of the gates early have magnified the spotlight on the recent financial vagaries swirling around the Clinton Foundation," said Wealth-X President David S. Friedman. "Wealth-X's assessment of the combined fortunes of the Clinton family puts them in our top 10 ranking. It shows that while their Foundation may have been suffering from fundraising challenges, their personal fortunes have continued to grow, driven by their personal speaking tours and appearances."
