RootMetrics® Studies Wireless Data Performance at Four Florida Airports: Verizon Network Scores Top Spots

MIAMI, Feb. 20, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- In reports of four major Florida airports released today by independent mobile analytics firm RootMetrics, Verizon Wireless has earned top honors in wireless data performance.

The latest studies are from Miami International Airport (MIA), Fort Lauderdale – Hollywood International Airport (FLL), Tampa International Airport (TPA) and Southwest Florida International Airport (RSW).

The results were from thousands of tests RootMetrics conducted at the four airports earlier this year to determine which of the four major wireless carriers delivered the strongest data speeds and reliability for consumers using smartphones, tablets and other devices.

"At each airport, we measure how reliably and quickly each network is able to download and upload data, perform email tasks, and handle files that represent elements of a webpage or app, among others," according to the RootMetrics reports.

• At MIA, Verizon achieved a RootScore® of 99.4, including data download speeds of more than 30 megabytes per second (Mbps).
• At FLL, Verizon earned a RootScore of 96.5 and download speeds of more than 22 Mbps, almost tripling the speed of its nearest competitor.
• At TPA, Verizon recorded a RootScore of 98.3 with download speeds of more than 15 Mbps.
• At RSW, Verizon's RootScore was an almost perfect 99.7.  Verizon's download speeds were measured at more than 40 Mbps, almost doubling its nearest competitor.
