Roosevelt University Rolls Out New Video Learning Initiative Designed to Support Student Engagement
Roosevelt University College of Pharmacy partners with Echo360, leader in academic video and active learning, to create more interactive classroom experiences and track learner progress with advanced analytics.
CHICAGO, Dec. 13, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- Roosevelt University's College of Pharmacy--Illinois' oldest three-year Doctor of Pharmacy program--announced, today, the launch of a new video and active learning initiative to build more engaging in-class experiences and extend classroom moments beyond the lecture. Through a partnership with leading video platform, Echo360, Roosevelt University pharmacy students will have access to digital tools that make it easier to engage more deeply with course content before, during and after class, through on-demand access to video as well as complimentary tools that support in-class engagement, collaboration and more efficient studying.
The Echo360 platform incorporates features demonstrated to support a more active learning experience. As students participate in class or revisit course video, they are able to flag sections of the lecture that are confusing, share questions with their peers and instructor, take notes time-synched to the lecture and respond to quizzes and polls that can inform the instructor.
"Our students are accustomed to our faculty providing meaningful learning experiences. This tool will support our faculty as they strive to engage students even more fully. Our mission is to educate compassionate, competent and committed pharmacists. Finding tools that support our faculty and students in this endeavor is essential," said Melissa Hogan, Dean at Roosevelt University College of Pharmacy. "By partnering with Echo360, our faculty and students now have access to easy-to-use tools that allow them to more actively participate with video learning content."
The platform also provides faculty with better insight into the student experience, making it easier to understand how students are interacting with course content or flag when they may be confused or falling behind. The learning analytics provide the university with a more robust understanding of student success, and can streamline the accreditation and grant funding processes. Echo360 was selected over other video platform solutions due to its analytics capabilities, as well as its active learning features.
"Both instructors and students want video learning that is more interactive and provides students with all of the opportunities and benefits of actually being in the classroom," said Fred Singer, CEO at Echo360. "We're excited to partner with an institution like the Roosevelt University College of Pharmacy that recognizes this demand and is committed to giving students and faculty the tools they need to make this experience a reality."
Roosevelt University's partnership with Echo360 fully launched this month with the platform available to Roosevelt University College of Pharmacy faculty and over 200 students. To learn more about Echo360's active learning platform, visit https://echo360.com/.
