ROI Ministry Releases Top 10 Charitable Organizations List for End of Year Giving
ATLANTA, Dec. 29, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- The Bible says in 1 Corinthians 6: 9-10, "……wrongdoers will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: Neither the sexually immoral nor idolaters nor adulterers nor men who have sex with men (or women with women in Romans 1:26) nor thieves nor the greedy nor drunkards nor slanderers nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God." Readers who come across the assertion that they -- will not "inherit the kingdom of God" can find it eternally tragic as most Christian's have gone silent on portions of God's lifesaving directions to us.
So what do we do with this verse as we share the greatest gift we can this Holiday Season?
- Re-interpret it, as shown by example in Genesis 3:1, with the deceiver accusing God of holding out on us with one fatal question. "Did God really say" that, which is often utilized to misinterpret politically incorrect verses. (E.g. Christmas to Happy Holidays).
- Do we broad-brush God as a hater by redefining biblically sinful things as good and some good things as bad, which tragically sacrifices truth, on an altar of a false grace!
- Do we say nothing and enable idolatry, greed, alcoholism and sexual immorality which is biblically defined as infidelity, same sex unions and sex outside of marriage. Can real love pat a person on the back to an eternity apart from God?
- Who are we to judge? Malachi 3:8 and Barna research teaches that most of us fail to tithe, which is essentially robbing God (i.e. were swindlers). Jesus said "to whom much is given, much more will be expected" and Randy Alcorn teaches that the tithe is just training wheels for Christians.
For those of us making $52,000 or more annually, we are in the top 1% most financially blessed people in the world. So how do we take the "wrongdoers" specks out of our brother's eyes with these logs in our own?
The only answer is to turn away from all these things above and into the loving arms of Jesus Christ who is the reason for the Christmas and end of year season of generosity.
As repented people that are saved by grace, we pay this forward by sharing the greatest gift in ways that will matter to us, to God and to others for all eternity.
