LOUISVILLE, Ky., Sept. 19, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Laboratory Supply Company (LABSCO), the largest privately held supplier of diagnostic instrumentation and clinical laboratory products to hospitals, physician office laboratories, reference labs and other non-acute care settings in the United States, has appointed healthcare industry veteran Rod Wolford to its board of directors.

Over the span of his career, Wolford served in leadership roles with healthcare providers, suppliers, consulting firms, associations and insurers. Most recently he served as chief executive officer (CEO) of Gordian Health Solutions (now OnLife Health), a wellness company based in Nashville, Tenn., and president of the personal advocacy business unit of Blue Cross Tennessee. Previously, Wolford served as chairman and CEO at ForHealth Technologies, Daytona Beach, Fla., a healthcare company that develops automation technology for intravenous drug preparation.
In addition, Wolford has served as CEO of three major hospital systems: Healthlink (now Legacy Healthcare) in Portland, Ore.; Alliant (now Norton Healthcare System) in Louisville, Ky.; and California Healthcare System in San Francisco. He also served as chairman and CEO of Sterling Diagnostic Imaging, Greenville, SC, a worldwide manufacturer of X-ray film and imaging systems, and executive chairman of Provation Medical in Minneapolis.

Wolford has served on numerous boards of directors for both corporations and professional associations. He currently serves as a director on the boards of Essent Healthcare and Haven Behavioral, both in Nashville, Tenn., VetCor, Hingham, Mass., and the Institute of Safe Medication Practices. Other board positions in the past include serving as chairman of the Healthcare Forum and Health Insights, and director of Image Guided Neurologics, Melbourne, Fla., and Bellarmine College, Louisville, Ky. Wolford was also a founding member of American HealthCare Systems (now Premier, Inc.).
Starting his career as a certified public accountant, Wolford received a bachelor's degree in accounting from the University of Kentucky and a master's of business administration from the University of Pittsburgh.
