Rocky Mountain Regional Turfgrass Association Recognizes NHLA Founding President, Jesus 'Chuy' Medrano, with the 2013 Distinguished Service Award
MIAMI, Nov. 19, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- The National Hispanic Landscape Alliance (NHLA), congratulates founding member and immediate past president, Jesus 'Chuy' Medrano, on his being named the Rocky Mountain Regional Turfgrass Association (RMRTA) 2013 Distinguished Service Award recipient in recognition of his dedication to the landscaping industry and utmost professional integrity.
Medrano was honored not only for his success as the founder and owner of Co-Cal Landscaping in Denver, Colorado, but also for his enthusiastic and dedicated commitment to the professional advancement of Hispanics in the landscape industry, regionally and across the country. Over the past two decades, Medrano has taught employees leadership and business skills that have helped them further their careers.
"I am very humbled to receive this award. The last 20 years have been a great journey and I have been fortunate enough to meet many amazing individuals who have contributed to the progress of this industry," said Medrano. "I hope to continue making a difference and working toward the improvement of the landscaping industry throughout the rest of my career."
Advocating through the NHLA against policies that threaten the landcare industry is another way in which Medrano makes a difference. During his time as president of the organization, Medrano's voice was key in successfully challenging regulations advanced by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and the Department of Labor (DOL), which would have been detrimental to the industry and those it serves.
"Chuy's keen interest in the advancement of others and long legacy of service to the industry are what made him the right man to be the NHLA's founding president," noted NHLA President Raul Berrios. "Thanks to his leadership in the infant years of the organization, we are able to forge forward as a force in the industry."
The Rocky Mountain Regional Turfgrass Association is a non-profit organization dedicated to the improvement of the turfgrass industry and encourages research and education. Each year, the organization presents two awards to recognize leaders in the turfgrass industry. The Distinguished Service Award is presented to a valuable and true leader who has been involved in serving the industry for over ten years.
