Rocky Mountain Early Childhood Conference Cancelled Amid Coronavirus Spread
DENVER, March 12, 2020 /PRNewswire/ -- A day after Governor Jared Polis announced a state of emergency in Colorado amid the spread of coronavirus, organizers of the 2020 Rocky Mountain Early Childhood Conference have cancelled the event. The gathering was set to bring together over 2,000 early childhood professionals and stakeholders to the heart of Denver on March 13th and 14th.
Organizers were in discussions with government, health, and community leaders before deciding that cancellation was in the best interest of the community. "We will sincerely miss this year's event, but we feel this is the best decision for everyone involved. The health of our early care and education providers, and the children and families they care for, are our highest priority and we do not want to put anyone at unnecessary risk," said Emily Bustos, CEO of Denver's Early Childhood Council, co-host of the event with the Early Childhood Council Leadership Alliance
Organizers are working to make materials available and seeking ways to help meet professional development needs. Participants will be emailed with next steps and updates will made available on a continuous basis at www.rmecconference.com.
