FRESNO, Calif., March 11, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Blast 825, a quick-fired pizza restaurant, announced today it raised more than $1,600 from the brand's recent Rocklin grand opening celebration which it matched for a total donation of $3,366 to the Placer SPCA. As part of the restaurant's opening event on Jan. 28, Blast offered guests $4 pizzas and salads all day long with 100 percent of the proceeds going to the Placer SPCA via Blast 825's new pet-centric charitable initiative, Blast Buddies.
"We are so grateful to have been chosen once again as the beneficiary of Blast 825's efforts through the Blast Buddies program. Not only were we thrilled to be a part of the Rocklin grand opening, but we were excited to have been able to create another signature pizza - the Pet Lover's Pizza," said Susan Willson, development director of the Placer SPCA. "We truly value our partnership with Blast 825 - efforts like these are crucial in helping Placer SPCA continue our lifesaving programs and services for the people and pets of our community."
During the event, Placer SPCA representatives "crustomized" a signature pizza they dubbed the "Pet Lover's Pizza," which featured garlic infused olive oil, Blast blend cheese, sun dried tomato, roasted onion, roasted garlic, black olives and pesto drizzle. Blast 825 then sold the specialty pizza from Jan. 28 through Feb. 28 for that total donation of nearly $3,400 to support the Placer SPCA's work with pets in the community.
"We are happy to support the Placer SPCA again because it's such a perfect fit with our new Blast Buddies initiative," said John Ferdinandi, CEO of Milano Restaurants, parent company of Blast 825. "We are proud to announce we will continue supporting local pet charities through store grand openings as Blast 825 expands our franchising model through California and into Nevada, Arizona and Texas."
For 40 years, the Placer SPCA has reunited lost pets with their owners, enabled struggling families and individuals to keep their pets when times are tough, and matched homeless pets with those searching for a companion. Today, the Placer SPCA is the largest and most comprehensive animal welfare provider in Placer County. As a critically needed not-for-profit organization, the Placer SPCA shelters approximately 4,000 homeless animals annually, including dogs, cats, rabbits, hamsters, guinea pigs, mice, and other pets between their three locations: the Placer Companion Animal Center in Roseville, the Pet Adoption and Resource Center in Auburn and the Pet Food Express Cat Adoption Center at Fountains in Roseville.
