Rockline Industries Announces Annual Scholarship Program; Awards First Recipient
SHEBOYGAN, Wis., May 31, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Rockline Industries this month awarded the first annual Ralph and Clare Rudolph Scholarship to the son of one of the company's employees. Matthew Smilanich is the son of Rockline employee Tom Smilanich and will receive $2,000 per year for the next four years as he pursues a degree in Dentistry at Marquette University. Matthew is a graduate of Notre Dame Academy in Green Bay.
"This is our way of giving something back to our employees who have helped make Rockline successful," said Ralph Rudolph, the late founder. "Having lived through the Great Depression, Clare and I both saw how economic hardship could take away people's material possessions. The one thing that can never be taken away, though, is an education."
The Community Foundation of Fox Valley manages the application and selection process for the scholarship, which is based on GPA, ACT/SAT scores, extracurricular activities, community service, work experience, two letters of recommendation, and a student essay.
Each year, one $2,000-per-year ($8,000 total) scholarship will be awarded to a dependent of a Rockline employee attending a four-year college or university, and beginning next year, a second scholarship valued at $1,000 per year ($2,000 total) will be awarded to a dependent of a Rockline employee attending a two-year technical college.
