Rockbridge Announces Dynamic National Speakers for Rock The Road 2017
Targets $1 Million Goal for Cancer Research
COLUMBUS, Ohio, May 2, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Rockbridge today announced Basketball Legend and Hall-of-Famer Bill Walton will be the leadership keynote speaker for its 6th-annual Rock the Road (RTRX) Experience, to be held August 3-6, 2017 in Columbus, Ohio, benefitting Pelotonia. Additional speakers for the event include Dan Pallotta - innovation speaker, author, change-agent, Doug Ulman - Pelotonia CEO, and Dr. Michael Caligiuri - OSU James Cancer Hospital and Solve Research Institute CEO.
RTRX is all about leadership and innovation, delivered by inspiring speakers during a powerful day of storytelling. It's an opportunity for strong networking, to think more broadly, and to be immersed in a wealth of provocative ideas all while sharing a commitment to supporting cancer research.
"The value of this leadership and innovation event is built around our triple-bottom-line: good business, personal fulfillment and giving back," said Jim Merkel, Rockbridge CEO and Rock the Road founder. "Rock the Road is a passion for us. We put significant effort into creating an incredible experience for our guests. Attendees come away thinking differently and feeling great."
Rockbridge founded RTRX to unite business leaders behind one goal: ending cancer. The event directly supports Pelotonia, the nation's largest cycling event benefiting cancer research. Over the past six years, Rock the Road has contributed more than $2.1 million to Pelotonia and cancer research through sponsorships, attendees, and individual rider fundraising. RTRX has again set the bar high, announcing a goal of raising $1 million for Pelotonia.
RTRX leadership keynote speaker Bill Walton's experiences on and off the court are the foundations for his keynote talk on leadership. Having played for legendary coach John Wooden, Walton draws on insights and lessons from his former mentor as well as his 15-year legendary career.
Dan Pallotta is the innovation keynote speaker at RTRX. Pallotta is a leading advocate for nonprofit reform. He is an innovative thinker and a builder of movements. He believes passionately that restraints on nonprofits undermine their potential. He invented the multi-day charitable event industry including the Breast Cancer 3-Day walks and the multi-day AIDS Rides, which raised half a billion dollars in 9 years. In the last five years Dan has given over 275 talks on philanthropy and innovation.
RTRX also launched RTRexperience.com, the branded digital home of Rock the Road. The website was created to provide a seamless "one-stop shop" experience for sponsors, attendees, riders and those wishing to make a donation.
Some of the website's functionality includes:
- Sponsor sign-up
- Attendee registration
- Easy payment options
- Rider information with a direct link to Pelotonia's website
