'Rock Island Auction Freedom Challenge' Seeks to Protect Gun Rights

ROCK ISLAND, Ill., July 14, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Rock Island Auction Company, an Illinois firearms auction house, today launched the "Rock Island Auction Freedom Challenge," an online fundraising campaign aimed at raising money to support the National Rifle Association Institute for Legislative Action's (NRA-ILA) efforts to preserve Second Amendment rights. RIAC pledged to match up to $1 million in donations raised through the online video campaign.

"If you have a gun, and you want to continue to own it legally, then this challenge is for you," said Hogan. "It doesn't matter if you go hunting, target shoot, want to protect yourself or your family, are a member of an at-risk group, a sport shooter, or are a collector. We want your donation, and we will match it. If every person who owned a gun donated just one dollar, the impact would be enormous."

Second Amendment supporters who accept the "Rock Island Auction Freedom Challenge" will record a video of themselves challenging their friends and family to take the challenge, stating why they are participating in the challenge, and then post to their own social media pages. Donations can be made at www.RIAFreedomChallenge.com. It is not necessary to receive a challenge to participate.

Hogan hopes that the challenge, "will show the vast diversity of firearms owners in this country and that, regardless of a social sphere or reason for owning, we can all come together to help preserve this important right." The goal is to reach beyond traditional political activists and activate all Americans who exercise their Second Amendment rights. With over 100 million gun owners in America the fundraising effort could make a significant difference in a critical election year.

Proceeds and the $1 million dollar match from the Freedom Challenge will be donated to the NRA-ILA, the lobbying arm of the NRA that has successfully defended not only gun rights, but many issues revolving around firearms such as hunting, wildlife conservation, and criminal justice reform.
