LOS ANGELES, Jan. 22, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Critically acclaimed pop rock fan-favorites Matchbox Twenty invade AXS TV, in the MATCHBOX TWENTY TAKEOVER, kicking off at 12:00pE on Sunday, February 15. The special day-long event is packed with over 12 hours of live concert performances from some of rock's biggest names including Counting Crows, Train, The Fray, John Mayer and more, as well as NOTHING BUT VIDEOS: Matchbox Twenty Edition (12:00pE), interstitial content, and exclusive band interviews, leading up to the television premiere of the concert film MATCHBOX TWENTY LIVE NORTH at 8pE.
MATCHBOX TWENTY LIVE NORTH is the exciting new concert film from beloved pop rock heroes Matchbox Twenty. Shot during the band's 2013 tour—where they played 60 shows throughout Australia, North and South America, Europe, and Asia in support of their fourth studio album, North—the 90-minute special takes fans out of their seats and on to the stage for an up-close-and-personal performance featuring a career-spanning set list of hits including "Bent," "3 AM," "She's So Mean," "Unwell" and "How Far We've Come," among others.
As a special bonus, Matchbox Twenty will be taking over AXS TV's Twitter account to talk to fans in a special interactive live event happening 30 minutes before the premiere of MATCHBOX TWENTY LIVE NORTH at 8pE. Using #MB20Takeover, participants will be able to send their tweets directly to the band. A few fans will be randomly selected to win Matchbox Twenty albums and bracelets, and two lucky winners will take home a Matchbox Twenty Digital TourBook™ which is the next generation in premium concert souvenirs, combining the best features of a hardback book with a fully functional media player.
In addition to taking over the network, viewers will enjoy new interstitial content and exclusive interviews with the band, which will be airing throughout the evening. In these interviews, the band reflects back on their career, the origin of their name, and reminisce about how it all started.
Other programming highlights include additional concert film premieres including pop crooner Ben Rector (2:00pE), and folk rocker Matt Nathanson (3:05pE); along with unforgettable sets from Lifehouse (5pE); roots rock mainstays The Wallflowers (6pE); modern pop rock hit-makers The Fray (7pE); a two-part event featuring two guitar heroes in John Mayer with Special Guest Buddy Guy (9:30pE); Bay Area favorites Train: Live in Chicago (11:30pE); and alt rock legends Counting Crows – Live at Auditorium Shores (12:50aE).
