"I'm honored to present on the timely topic of the ramifications of climate change on infrastructure development, especially at a conference filled with both seasoned industry experts, and the students who are the future of the infrastructure and environmental industry," said Goldman.
Using his more than 30 years of experience in the infrastructure, environmental and remediation industry, including the past three years as Global Environmental Director for ARCADIS, Goldman will speak on Thursday, April 22, during a session about the four domains of sustainability as defined by Harvard's Zofnass Program for Infrastructure Sustainability. He will lend his expertise to the discussion on the climate change domain, discussing the importance of considering greenhouse gas emissions and adaptive strategies in the decision-making process for infrastructure development.
Said Goldman, "Greenhouse gas emissions should be considered in the development and implementation stage of significant infrastructure projects. Efforts should aim to select a methodology and approach that minimize long-term climate change considerations resulting from these types of projects. Further, we should also promote infrastructure projects that are adaptable and resilient to future conditions that may result from climate change."
The Infrastructure Sustainability and Design Conference aims to identify the many challenges of implementing sustainable infrastructure development. During a variety of sessions, industry experts will address the specific challenges of sustainability for infrastructure projects of varying types and will analyze existing strategies and seek solutions for a more sustainable future. The conference also marks the release of the alpha version of Harvard Graduate School of Design's Zofnass Rating System, a rating metric that assesses sustainable infrastructure.
