COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo., April 11, 2012 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Robert F. Kennedy, Jr., president of the Waterkeeper Alliance and senior attorney for the Natural Resources Defense Council (NRDC), is joining the growing list of distinguished presenters at the 23rd annual SRI Conference on Sustainable, Responsible, Impact Investing ("The 2012 SRI Conference") taking place October 2-4, 2012 at the Mohegan Sun Conference Center in Connecticut.
Organized by First Affirmative Financial Network, The SRI Conference—formerly known as SRI in the Rockies—is the largest annual gathering of responsible investors and investment professionals nationwide. The October 2012 conference represents the first time the major industry event has been held on the East Coast, with easy access to and from New York City, Boston, and Washington, D.C.
Robert F. Kennedy, Jr. will join Kim Jeffery, CEO, Nestle Waters North America to discuss corporate responsibility and 21st Century waste recovery challenges. Their presentations will focus on the urgency of advancing more comprehensive waste recovery systems in the U.S., bottom line implications for companies and how shareholder advocates are influencing corporations to mitigate shareholder risk.
First Affirmative President Steve Schueth, producer of the 2012 SRI Conference, said: "The SRI community and the 2012 SRI Conference sponsors are very pleased that Robert F. Kennedy, Jr. will be speaking on corporate responsibility as it relates to the growing issue of water conservation and waste recovery. These are extremely important issues, which fund managers and financial advisors are increasingly scrutinizing to protect their investments, and to assist in the process of turning back the clock on business practices that threaten our nation's critical aquifers and water resources. No one knows more about how companies can develop safer practices to ensure better water quality and to start changing the way we view water as a precious commodity. This will be a highly anticipated presentation."
Robert F. Kennedy, Jr. was named one of Time magazine's "Heroes for the Planet" for protecting New York City's water supply, and advancing successful efforts to help restore the Hudson River as the chief prosecuting attorney for Riverkeeper. Kennedy is widely accredited for his legal work on behalf of Native American tribes of Canada and Latin America and successfully negotiating treaties protecting traditional homelands.
Nestle Waters North America President and CEO Kim Jeffery oversees the largest bottled water company in North America, with 35 percent market share, 8,000 employees, 27 plants, and over 100 facilities.
