Robert A. Friedman Takes Reins as Chair of ADL's Washington, D.C. Young Professionals Division
WASHINGTON, Jan. 5, 2011 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The Anti-Defamation League's (ADL) Washington, D.C. Regional Office announced the appointment of Robert A. Friedman as the new Board Chair of the region's ADL Young Professionals Division (YPD). A Washington, D.C. attorney, Mr. Friedman has been actively involved with ADL for four years. He was appointed to the two-year term by Washington, D.C. Regional Board Chair, Steve H. Schram.
In his years of work with ADL, Mr. Friedman has served in a number of capacities. He was introduced to the League as a participant in ADL's 2008-09 Glass Leadership Institute (GLI), a 9-month leadership development program designed to educate a select group of young professionals about the crucial work of the League in its efforts to fight anti-Semitism and all forms of hate and bigotry. The following year, Mr. Friedman was appointed Co-Chair of the 2009-10 GLI program and went on to serve as a YPD Board Member and Co-Chair of its Legal Affairs Committee.

Mr. Friedman is an attorney in the Washington D.C. office of Venable LLP. He is a non-resident Fellow at the Georgetown Center on National Security and the Law and a Principal in the Truman National Security Project. In 2007, Robert helped launch Foreign Policy Digest, a monthly, online foreign affairs journal which spreads awareness of international issues and increases access to world affair. He currently serves as the journal's Managing Editor.
Mr. Friedman graduated cum laude from the Georgetown University Law Center where he was the Senior Notes Editor for the Georgetown Journal of Gender and the Law. He received his undergraduate degree in Political Science from Emory University, a Master's in Government, with honors, from Johns Hopkins University and studied Public International Law and Conflict Resolution at John Cabot University in Rome, Italy.
He lives in Washington, D.C. with his wife Mariana Marques.
