Robbins Brothers Hosts Series of Pre-Valentine's Surprise Marriage Proposals for Southern California Couples
The Engagement Ring Store partners with KTLA 5 reporter Gayle Anderson to help hopeful grooms pop the question during the week leading up to Valentine's Day
LOS ANGELES, Feb. 15, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Robbins Brothers, The Engagement Ring Store™ and KTLA-TV usher in the season of love by launching a week of surprise marriage proposals for unsuspecting brides-to-be. The Robbins Brothers store associates in Southern California identified male customers who were looking to get engaged in a big way just in time for the most romantic 24 hours of the year. They even secured interest from a female Army Reservist who wanted to ask her boyfriend, a former Marine, to spend forever with her on live television.
The Robbins Brothers 'Love Team,' a group of employees at the company, kicked off 'Valentine's Proposal Week' with a surprise engagement for Rochelle Gonzales, a woman who dropped off her daughter at daycare in Bell Gardens, CA. Gonzales was under the false impression that she had a parent conference meeting, but instead saw toddlers holding up letters that spelled 'Will You Marry Me' and her boyfriend Ray Ledesma down on bended knee.
Other surprises during the week included a 'Breakfast at Robbins Brothers' in which a young woman arrived at the Canoga Park store blindfolded; a dramatic, suspenseful proposal at Target, a lady's workplace; Roy's Restaurant in Pasadena in which a woman's boyfriend surprised her in a chef's uniform and her Echo Diamond solitaire engagement ring on a serving platter; and the Santa Monica pier where a woman decided to flip the script and ask her boyfriend of eight years to marry her.
"Valentine's Day has always been a special time of year for our customers to get engaged and we were thrilled to create such a memorable experience for them," said Diane Ferraro, director of advertising for Robbins Brothers. "A television proposal is a unique opportunity and memory that the couples can share with family and friends for years to come."
"I was beyond stunned," said the newly-engaged Melissa Pollack whose boyfriend proposed to her at the Robbins Brothers store in Canoga Park. "I am so grateful and still trying to figure out how everyone including my fiance pulled off such a big, great surprise!"
