ATLANTA, Feb. 1, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- The Atlanta office of Weber Shandwick, one of the world's leading global public relations firms, today announced that Rob Baskin is joining the office as president, effective immediately. Baskin brings with him an established track record of successful U.S. and global account management for clients such as The Home Depot, Emory University, Equifax, Ernst & Young, Philips Electronics, UPS, AFLAC and McDonald's, among others.
For the past nine years, Baskin was with MSL Group, serving as managing director for MSL Atlanta and interim managing director for MSL San Francisco and MSL Los Angeles.
"Rob has a reputation as someone who drives agency growth and prosperity," said Andy Polansky, president of Weber Shandwick. "His more than 30 years of corporate and agency experience and the relationships he has built will be an asset to us in an important market, which ranks fourth among cities with Fortune 500 company headquarters."
Earlier in his career, Baskin over a 15-year span, held several senior communications positions, including director of corporate public relations, director of public relations for Coca-Cola North America, and director of corporate marketing communications. Baskin also served for 10 years at the PR firm Cohn & Wolfe, where he held a variety of account service positions, including general manager of its Atlanta office.
"This is the ideal time for me to join Weber Shandwick," Baskin said. "As the economy rebounds, companies are embracing the 24/7 dialog that social media has made possible. My goal is to bring the global resources of the Weber Shandwick network to bear for our clients in this region."
