OMAHA, Neb., Sept. 13, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Roadrunner Temperature Controlled is proud to stand with the American Trucking Association and the rest of the trucking community to honor drivers across the country this week. The annual National Truck Driver Appreciation Week (NTDAW) is currently underway, marking the celebration of over 3.5 million men and women drivers who log 720 billion miles annually and deliver nearly two-thirds of all U.S. freight tonnage.
"This week is all about our drivers and thanking them for the work they do day in and day out. At Roadrunner Temperature Controlled, our drivers are often delivering vital necessities including lifesaving medication and perishable food. NTDAW gives us the opportunity to meet with as many of our drivers as possible, shake their hands and personally express our gratitude for their hard work and dedication," said Paul Schlegel, President at Roadrunner Temperature Controlled. "The driving profession is extremely demanding and all drivers deserve endless appreciation. Our team here at Roadrunner Temperature Controlled is very proud to join the rest of the industry and thank drivers for their vital role in keeping America's freight moving."
Celebratory events will be held at facilities in Omaha, Nebraska and Wichita, Kansas, including free haircuts, cookouts and giveaways for over 550 drivers. A charity drive will also simultaneously occur at Roadrunner Temperature Controlled facilities this week in support of the Bethlehem House. This organization provides a home to expecting and new mothers in the Omaha community with a focus on pre and post-natal care, women empowerment, encouragement and education.
