Roadmap to Profitable High Speed Rail at Chicago Summit
CHICAGO, February 11 /PRNewswire/ -- With federal stimulus funds for 13 high speed rail corridors only recently awarded, even more delegates and speakers are joining the incredibly timely 'Financing High Speed Rail USA' Summit, being held in Chicago this February 23-24. Tom Mulligan, Director Of Passenger Rail Operations, UNION PACIFIC RAILROAD COMPANY will be joining the already extensive speaker panel to discuss how we can create a culture of passenger rail transportation in the US and how stakeholders can work together to develop new sources of State and local funding and, critically, private investment. With representation from State DOT's including California, Florida, Michigan, Georgia, Illinois and Texas, this Summit will play a hugely important role in expediting new partnerships between the key players in the development of US high speed rail.
The organizers of the Summit have been congratulated on the level of detail within the program, which, with over 35 Speakers, is the only event on US high speed rail that deals exclusively with how to work towards profitability. The objective of the Summit is for participants to learn about how High Speed Rail will actually be financed (recognizing that the federal stimulus package is insufficient to complete any project). This event will provide realistic data specific to US rail projects regarding risk as well as the most cost-effective financial models to help projects work towards the goal of profitability.
Lead Sponsors of the Summit, Siemens will be joined at the Summit by Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer US LLP (Exclusive Law Firm Sponsors) and French High Speed Rail Operator SNCF. It will provide a timely opportunity for participants to network with the financing community, (including investment banks, private investors and financial advisory firms), rail operators, engineering and construction companies, rolling stock firms, suppliers, State DOTS and federal agencies, as well as providing an important forum to expedite the formation of new regional partnerships.
This Summit is the only one that dissects the project costs for both incremental and new-build HSR projects. Capital costs will be discussed, and detail provided about the relative costs of different speeds, what makes these speeds necessary and, importantly, the economic environmental and social benefits they entail.
To register for the Summit please call (1)800-721-3915 or visit http://www.financing-high-speed-rail-usa.com to register online. State Departments of Transportation may claim a 50% discount on the registration fee. Please email [email protected].
