KANSAS CITY, Mo., May, 28 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- The Commercial Vehicle Safety Alliance (CVSA) is holding its annual inspection blitz, known as Roadcheck, on June 3rd through the 5th. During this period, about 72,000 commercial trucks and buses will be inspected from Canada to Mexico.
In his recent report "Commercial Vehicle Safety Alliance Roadcheck 2014: Is Your Fleet Ready?", Lockton's Darren Beard takes a look at the facts regarding the event, provides results from last year's Roadcheck, and shares tips to keep your vehicles and drivers operating safely and efficiently.

Although all fleets should be expected to pass an inspection if they are out on the road, Beard notes that at last year's event, one in five vehicles were placed out of service during Roadcheck 2013.
"Nearly half of the vehicles placed out of service can be attributed to brake-related issues, so it is imperative that fleets are staying up-to-date with brake system maintenance especially," said Beard.
The Lockton report encourages fleets to consistently operate safely and efficiently throughout the year by holding drivers and dispatchers accountable and keeping up with inspections and maintenance schedules. The report also provides tips to keeping vehicles and drivers operating safely throughout the year, including:
- Focus on brake system maintenance during scheduled maintenance periods
- Be sure drivers are properly trained on conducting pre- and post-trip inspections
- Review maintenance protocols
By adhering to the correct processes, practices, and training, Roadcheck 2014 should be just like any other drive on the highway. Armed with the information and tips highlighted in Beard's report, drivers will ride comfortably, knowing they will pass any inspection that comes their way.
