"As a commitment to education and an investment in future leaders, at Ronald McDonald House Charities we are proud to award Hispanic students nationally with RMHC/HACER scholarships of up to $100,000," said Martin J. Coyne, President and CEO of Ronald McDonald House Charities, Inc. "With education costs spiraling ever higher, a college education is beyond the financial reach of many outstanding students. The RMHC/HACER Scholarship Program provides financial aid for students who are excellent role models in their communities and have the initiative to fulfill their educational aspirations."
Since 1985, RMHC/HACER has awarded more than $20 million in scholarships to nearly 14,000 Hispanic students in the U.S., becoming one of the nation's largest programs providing financial support for college-bound Hispanic high school seniors. RMHC/HACER scholarship recipients are students with financial need who have demonstrated exceptional academic achievement and community involvement.
In 2008, a national scholarship was added to the RMHC/HACER Scholarship Program. The RMHC/HACER National Scholarship awards four students with a scholarship of $100,000 to help finance their college education expenses. Recipients of the RMHC/HACER National Scholarship are currently completing their college education at universities across the country including Harvard, M.I.T., and Brown University.
"RMHC/HACER is a dream come true, a blessing, and an opportunity to any student, especially students with financial disadvantages, who strive for a better future," said Ariana J. Chavez, 2010 RMHC/HACER National Scholarship recipient and current freshman at the University of California, Davis. "Thanks to RMHC/HACER, and the work I've invested in my studies, and my community, I'm able to pursue a higher education without finances standing in the way."
RMHC/HACER is a program of Ronald McDonald House Charities and its participating local Chapters, which provide scholarships in several regions of the country. The program is supported through the efforts of McDonald's® owner/operators, local and national community leaders and individual donors.
