LAKEWOOD, Colo., Sept. 19, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- Rocky Mountain College of Art + Design (RMCAD) today announced that it has established an articulation agreement with the Art Institute. Discussion of the arrangement began following Ai's decision to close several of its campuses, including its Denver location.
The agreement will allow students previously enrolled in Ai to transfer their existing credits and continue their education at RMCAD, whether it be at the campus, or through their online offerings.
"These students have put in the time and hard work to pursue creative careers, and we want to be able to support them in completing their education," said Neely Patton, Vice President of Academic Affairs at RMCAD. "These industries are booming, and we can expect them to continue to grow. We don't want to see students give up on earning their degree because of this setback."
This announcement comes at a time when RMCAD has already experienced unprecedented growth. RMCAD has seen steady growth over the past five years, and the recent Fall term start on September 4, 2018 yielded the largest student cohort the college has ever experienced.
With this growth, the art and design school has been steadily adding new programs to its offerings, including the expansion of its online programs, such as Game Art and Fashion Design. Efforts to remodel existing facilities and add new resources for students have also been a priority, including the addition of the FAB (fabrication) Lab, which opened in May 2018.
RMCAD has also increased its involvement in the community with public events, including the Visiting Artist, Scholar, and Designer Program (VASD) lecture series, professional development days for Jefferson County Art Educators, participation in Lakewood's INSPIRE Arts Week, and more.
RMCAD has a rich history of providing quality art and design education. The original school was founded by Philip J. Steele in 1963 and moved to its current campus on 1600 Pierce St. in 2003.
