RMCAD Initiates Teach Out Agreement with The Art Institute Colorado

LAKEWOOD, Colo., Oct. 22, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- Rocky Mountain College of Art + Design (RMCAD) today announced the Higher Learning Commission of Colorado has approved a teach out agreement between RMCAD and the Art Institute Colorado. The teach out agreement will allow students formerly enrolled at Ai's Colorado campus to complete their degree at RMCAD, following the announcement in July that Ai would be closing several of its locations.

In September, RMCAD and Ai Colorado entered an articulation agreement, which allowed students from several of Ai's campuses to transfer with up to 60 credits in order to continue their education. Now with the addition of the teach out agreement, all Ai Colorado students with a year or less of their program remaining who have not yet enrolled in a new program can transfer 100 percent of their credits to complete a similar degree program at RMCAD.

"Some of the students we have heard from were only a few credits away from completing their programs at the Art Institute," said Neely Patton, Vice President of Academic Affairs at RMCAD. "With the establishment of a teach out agreement, these students can earn their degree without any further setbacks and get the final preparation they need to be successful creative professionals."

Six of Ai Colorado's degree programs are covered under the teach out agreement, including Graphic and Web Design, Interior Design, Media Arts and Animation, Digital Photography, Game Art and Design, and Fashion Design. Students are expected to have been in good standing with Ai up until May 2018 in order to be eligible.
